Xiaomi Pushes Out December 2025 HyperOS Security Updates for Redmi Phones

Xiaomi has started deploying a new wave of HyperOS updates that include the December 2025 Android security patch, reinforcing its focus on long-term device protection and software reliability. The update rollout is currently limited to a small set of Redmi smartphones and regions as part of Xiaomi’s controlled release process.

The latest update package is designed to strengthen defenses against newly discovered Android security threats while maintaining smooth performance across supported devices, regardless of Android version.

Initial Devices and Regions Covered

Xiaomi is following a staged update strategy to reduce potential stability issues, with the first batch covering specific models in different markets.

  • Redmi Note 12 Pro / Redmi Note 12 Pro+
  • Market: Russia
  • Software build: OS2.0.9.0.UMORUXM
  • Platform: Android 14
  • Redmi 12
  • Market: European Economic Area (EEA)
  • Software build: OS2.0.206.0.VMXEUXM
  • Platform: Android 15

This release confirms Xiaomi’s continued support for multiple Android generations under HyperOS, ensuring both newer and older platforms receive timely security maintenance.

Security-Focused Enhancements

The December 2025 patch prioritizes closing vulnerabilities at the system and framework level. Several of the addressed issues were classified as high-risk, including exploits that could allow malicious software to interfere with lock-screen behavior or gain unauthorized access to sensitive files.

To counter these threats, Xiaomi has improved permission enforcement, refined background execution limits, and enhanced internal security controls within HyperOS. These changes provide stronger protection against modern Android malware without introducing noticeable performance slowdowns.

Update Rollout and User Guidance

Because the update is being delivered gradually, some users may not see it immediately. Once available, it can be installed through the standard HyperOS OTA updater.

Xiaomi also advises users to regularly update built-in system applications, as many security improvements depend on coordinated updates between the operating system and core services
