💬 How to Recover Deleted Chats from Facebook Messenger — Full Backup Guide

Assalamu Alaikum, how are you all? I hope everyone is well. Many of us have been using Facebook for several years — 1, 2, or even 5 years! Often our Messenger chats get deleted accidentally or due to various issues in daily life. Sometimes people delete chats after talking. So if you want to recover old deleted chats — today’s post will show you how to get them back and back up everything including chats, photos, and videos.
🧾 Step 1: Send a Request to Facebook
To start, open the Facebook app → go to the Menu → scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy → then Settings. Under “Your Account,” scroll to Your Information and Permissions and tap on Export Your Information.
Here, select Create Export. You’ll see options for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Choose Messenger to back up all your chat data.
📤 Step 2: Choose Export Destination
Now you’ll see two options — Export to Device or Export to External Service. Select Export to Device.
Next, under “Information,” tap All Available Information → Clear All → tick only Messenger → and press Save.
💡 Tip: If your Gmail account is linked to Facebook, it will auto-connect. Otherwise, you can manually add it for backup delivery notifications.
🕒 Step 3: Select Time Range
You can choose to back up chats from a specific time period — for example, 1 week, 3 months, or All Time. Remember, the larger the data, the longer it takes to process.
For quick results, select 1 week or 1 day. In our example, we selected October 17, 2025 as the date.
📁 Step 4: Choose File Format and Quality
Choose HTML format (recommended for easy viewing) and select Medium Quality. Then click Start Export.
Now enter your Facebook password to confirm the request. Facebook will process your request and prepare the backup file within 24–48 hours.
